What is Acupuncture?
Traditional Chinese acupuncture was first developed from the early physiological and anatomical findings as described in the Huang Di Nei Jing (an ancient Chinese medical text).
Throughout the years acupuncture has been continually updated and refined. Millions of people around the globe now use Acupuncture as part of their health care plan.
How Does Chinese Acupuncture Work?
During acupuncture, thin needles are inserted into areas of the body that are rich in “neural nodes” or “Jie” in Chinese.
It’s the stimulation of these nodes that causes the central and peripheral nervous system to release pain-relieving chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins. This explains acupuncture’s pain-relieving and mind-calming effects.
The result is an increased flow of blood (Xue), oxygen (Qi) and nutrient (Ying Qi) to damaged tissue. This speeds up the healing process.
A typical acupuncture treatment offers fast and reliable relief. Patients can sit in a comfortable chair or lay down and relax, in most cases fully clothed.

How To Use Acupuncture
The majority of the time, traditional Chinese acupuncture is used as a therapy, not a one-off treatment.
For example, a patient can feel relief after their first acupuncture treatment. However, you generally have to a series of treatments to produce a lasting change that sticks.
Chinese medicine and acupuncture can work quickly and there can often be noticeable changes even after the first appointment. However, after a couple of days, your body’s normal function may start to return to where it was before.
The purpose of an acupuncture treatment plan is to help the body restore its proper function. We want the problem to stay away and not come back!

FAQs
What is Acupuncture Treatment?
Chinese Acupuncture treatment is a procedure for reducing pain through the insertion of fine needles in the body.
The needles are inserted in areas that are rich in neural nodes. The simulation of these areas leads to an increase in blood, oxygen and nutrient flow, which encourages healing.
Also, the stimulation of such areas triggers a release of chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins, which provide pain-relief.
Is acupuncture backed by scientific research and evidence?
Thousands of research papers have studied the effect of Chinese medicine acupuncture on the body and have derived the conclusion that it is safe for patients when done by trained and registered practitioners.
When it comes to evidence there is strong evidence for 46 different health conditions where it is effective and has evidence for 117 different health conditions. For more information visit the acupuncture research page here
